3 Tips On How To Find The Perfect Bra
When dressing up, it is important to pay as much attention to your innerwear as you pay to your outerwear. That is because a bra can make or break your style look. Whether you are buying a bra to wear under your strapless dress or looking to buy plus-size yoga bras, there are many important factors to consider. To help you out, here are three of them.
First, you must measure your breast correctly to find the right bra size. Use a soft tape measure and hold the 1-inch mark on your left hand. Now pass the tape around your rib cage from the back with your right hand and meet at the middle of your breast, under the bust. Make sure the tape is straight around your back. It is called band size, and, in the UK, it is measured by adding 4 to the number and then rounding down to the nearest even number. For example, if the under-bust measurement is 31, then after adding 4, it is 35 and rounded down to 34. It is the band measurement. It is what makes up your bra size.
The next important size measurement is regarding your bust size. Bring the tape from the back over the fullest part of your breast, which is often at the nipple level. Keep the measuring tape a little loose while measuring. There is no need to round it off to the nearest even number, but if it is an integer, then the nearest number is considered. For example, if the measurement is 43.5”, then 43 is taken as a bust measurement.
Now comes how to find the cup size. First, subtract the band size from the bust size. Going back to the previous examples, it will be 9 (43-34). Below is the corresponding alphabet you generally find in a UK bra size chart.
<1 AA
1 A
2 B
3 C
4 D
5 DD
6 E
7 F
8 FF
9 G
10 GG
11 H
12 HH
13 J
14 JJ
So going by the example, you need to look for a bra size that will be 34G. And these measurements should be done every six months because our body changes frequently based on our lifestyle.
The last important tip for bra shopping is regarding the type of bra. It should match the dress or purpose when you are wearing it. For example, try buying sports bras or plus-size yoga bras when exercising. For low-back evening dresses, try bralettes. For low-cut front dresses, you need to wear a plunge bra.
